COURTSHIP ROW
It’s a classic…the clinch cover. But, if you’re not sure exactly what I mean, a clinch cover is when the couple on the front are embracing. Usually it’s a dramatic pose, with the man wearing an open billowy white shirt to display his man boobies. Or the lady’s dress is sliding off as the man -presumably the hero – gets a little handsy. You will find them scattered all over romance, but they are most commonly found in historical romance.
Illustrated covers are becoming increasingly popular in the genre, and they are very pretty, however, I will always adore the classic clinch cover. It’s a little cheesy and old-fashioned, but I am still proud to display them on my bookshelf.
Genre only challenge
If you’re doing the genre only version of the challenge, pick any historical romance book of your choosing! For more contemporary romance book recommendations take a look at our Historical romance page on Under the Covers book blog.
