BURGER JOINT

Hmmm, food, delicious, delicious food. As someone who loves food, especially anything that has chocolate involved in some way, I love it when I find a foodie romance. I have a big soft spot for hero and heroines who own, run or work in a bakery as cakes and cookies are the quickest route to my heart. But for this challenge, your character just needs to be in the food industry in some way. You could have a chef heroine, a food critic hero, someone who owns a food truck, or maybe they’re the waitress at the local diner. As long as food is part of the job, it counts as part of the challenge!

Genre only challenge

If you’re doing the genre only version of the challenge, pick any fantasy book of your choosing! For more fantasy book recommendations take a look at our Fantasy page on Under the Covers book blog.

Publisher’s synopsis

What happens when a Bradford with questionable OCD and a reputation for making his employees cry falls for the woman that refuses to accept the fact that he’s fired her?

Lucifer still wasn’t sure how she was doing it, but every single day without fail, Rebecca found a new way to drive him out of his damn mind. When he finally manages to do the one thing that he’s been dreaming about doing for years, she takes him by surprise and makes him realize that there was more to the woman that loved to drive him crazy than he thought.

He needed her.

Not that he would admit it, but Rebecca wasn’t going to let that stop her, which was why she just couldn’t let him fire her because, without her, he’d be lost.

It was for his own good.

It really was.

At least, that’s what Rebecca tells herself. It was probably wrong to torment the man that signed her paychecks, but she just couldn’t help herself. There was just something about the incredibly handsome man that loved to glare that made her want to see just how far she could push him.

Meet Moti Ferreira—spectacularly jinxed from the day she’s born.

Saddled with an eccentric mother, she stumbles upon the one man who holds the key to her freedom—the best man at her cousin’s upcoming wedding.

All Moti has to do is overcome her fear of water, board a yacht to the Greek Isles, seduce the dreamy Nikos Manolas, and survive two weeks at sea with her oddball family.

The only obstacle Moti doesn’t see coming is Alexandros Veronis, the onboard chef and star witness to her awkward mishaps. He transforms onions into chocolate and aroma into nostalgia. Day by day, his alchemy works its magic on Moti. But she’s not the only one falling under his spell. Everyone has a secret, growing round and ripe at Chef Alex’s table. When the masks fall off, they spill out one by one, and everything blows up in their faces.

Now Moti’s truth is exposed, and worse, she’s hooked on more than Alex’s midnight snacks. But this time, screwing up could be the best thing she’s ever done…

The Opposite of You

Publisher’s synopsis

I’ve sworn off men.

All men.

Famous last words, right? You’re expecting some epic tale of reluctant love and my dramatic change of heart? Well, you’re not going to get it.

I’m stubborn. And headstrong. And I’ve just survived the worst three years of my life. After escaping an abusive boyfriend to live in hostels and cheap hotels while I worked my way across Europe, I’ve come to two conclusions.

The first? Now that I’m back home, I’m going to squander my expensive culinary degree on a food truck that caters to the late night drunk crowd.

The second? I’m going to prove to the bastard across the plaza that my street food is better than his fussy five course monstrosities.

Killian Quinn might be Food and Wine’s Chef to Watch Out For. He might have a Michelin Star. He might have every food critic in the city wrapped around his too-large fingers. But he’s also pretentious and unbearably arrogant and the very opposite of me.

So he can keep his unsolicited advice and his late night visits and his cocky smiles. I want none of it. Or him.

I want the opposite.

Pin it for later!
